The Priority Setting and Resource Allocation (PSRA) Committee of the Broward County HIV Health Services Council met at Government Center Room A-337 to discuss Food Pantry services, eligibility and cost containment on August 17, 2017. The County reported that without action, the Food Pantry category that includes the food box and food voucher would be 400,000 short this funding year that ends February 28, 2018 and that adding more money to the category was out of the question. The committee then decided to reduce food pantry access to higher earning participants in order to maintain access for lower income participants. The eligibility for food pantry services was recommended reduced to 150% of Federal Poverty Level from the current 250%, which will eliminate about 400 individuals from food pantry eligibility. The changes are effective October 1, 2017 without further changes. To get involved with these efforts, please attend the meetings which are open to the public.
