May 9, 2018 Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival presented the Poverello Center with a check for $375,212. That’s double what was raised by Poverello toward this year’s effort. The generosity of AHF through Florida AIDS Walk & Music Festival makes this event our largest single fundraiser of the year. We’re interested in attempting to fill gaps left by cuts in our local Ryan White Part A eligibility reductions for food pantry which were halved for the 2018-2019 contract year. “People with HIV need ready access to healthy foods in order to remain healthy and accomplish care goals including taking antiretroviral medication as prescribed,” says Thomas Pietrogallo, MSW/LCSW, MBA and CEO at Poverello. “People with HIV deserve the best we have, and this money helps us fill the gap between what we’re paid for a bag of food and what it costs. We’re so grateful to AHF and the Florida AIDS Walk & Music festival for joining with us to fight food insecurity among those of us with HIV.”
