Volunteers play a critical role in the success of Poverello. Many of our volunteers have invessted their time with Poverello for many years (Check out our most recent Volunteers in Profile). In a friendly, team-oriented environment, volunteers gain a sense of personal satisfaction while forging new relationships. Currently, there are over 200 active volunteers that donate their time and skills to Poverello. These individuals enable Poverello to keep its operating costs low, directing financial and in-kind contributions to programs and services that assist local individuals and families affected by chronic/critical illnesses.

Opportunities
The Poverello Center is in need of volunteers in our Food Pantry as well as at our Thrift Store. Your volunteer time means lower cost to run our programs, which, in turn, becomes food and services to South Florida individuals and families. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Tania Taveras at (954) 561-3663 ext 120 or ttaveras@poverello.org with any questions you may have. An online application can be found below. Thank you very much for the generous gift of your time and skills.
Individuals
Whether looking to fill time or searching for self actualization, the opportunities for service are plentiful. Those looking to volunteer may choose a certain project to donate their time or have a set schedule throughout the week, month or year. Here are some extraordinary people like you who’ve decided to give their time to us:

Corporate Volunteers
Poverello offers a wide variety of opportunities for socially responsible companies to communicate their commitment to the community. Previous corporate projects have included refurbishing Poverello’s Friends Fitness Center, packing groceries in the food pantry, merchandising our thrift store, assisting the management of special projects and volunteering at special fundraising events like Bike It For Life and our signature event, Bowling to Fight Hunger.
Schools / Universities
VIP: TEACHING THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL SERVICE, POVERELLO BECOMES A CLASSROOM FOR FAU STUDENTS

Poverello offers a wide variety of fun, exciting and valuable opportunities for personal development, academic requirements and service learning. Fraternities, sororities, Circle K International and other civic minded groups are welcome. Previous projects have included food and fund drives, special events and high-impact community outreach.

Community Service
Poverello welcomes members of our community wishing to fulfill court-ordered requirements for community service. There are, however, certain charges that will prohibit individuals from fulfilling court requirements on-site. Probationers and parolees are requested to contact our Volunteer Coordinator before coming in to fill out paperwork.

For more information on any of the above volunteer opportunities, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Tania Taveras at (954) 561-3663 ext 120 or ttaveras@poverello.org with any questions you may have.
