FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wilton Manors, FL – April 15, 2025 – The Poverello Center, Inc.’s charity thrift store at 2056 N Dixie Highway, Wilton Manors, FL 33305 experienced a break-in last week. Thanks to the rapid and professional response of the Wilton Manors Police Department, the suspect was stopped within five minutes of the alarm being triggered by our Sonitrol security system.
As a community-driven nonprofit, Poverello Thrift Store relies on donations and purchases to fund vital programs providing nutritious groceries for individuals living with chronic illnesses across South Florida. A break-in at our store not only threatens valuable resources but impacts those we serve.
“We are deeply grateful for the exceptional work of the Wilton Manors Police Department, whose quick action ensured that damage and losses were minimized. Their dedication to keeping our community safe is truly commendable.” He added, “The sad part is that whatever someone needs in the community, we often provide it if we can, furniture for a newly housed individual, clothing, food. Our donors are so generous to us, we seek to be generous too.”
Poverello remains committed to serving the community, and we invite residents to support our mission—whether through donations, shopping at our thrift store, or volunteering.
