OUTCOME UPDATE
May 31, 2020: 90.13% OF THOSE WITH HIV SERVED BY POVERELLO VIRALLY SUPRESSED!
Through implementation of E2i, (Evidence Informed Intervention) SBIRT (Short Behavioral Intervention, Referral and Treatment), Poverello staff have been able to increase the rates of people with suppressed viral loads this year to a national standard set for the future, Today!
May 11, 2018: 88.31% OF THOSE WITH HIV SERVED BY POVERELLO VIRALLY SUPRESSED
In a county with some of the highest per capita rates of new HIV infection, Poverello’s work stands out as a highly effective intervention with viral suppression rates (the goal of HIV anti-retroviral therapy) higher than the national, state or local levels. We’re 1.69% points away from meeting national 2020 goals for viral suppression! This wouldn’t be possible without our Linkage to Care Program funded by Gilead. For the past year, our linkage coordinator has been working with only those among our program participants whose viral loads we not controlled, encouraging, linking and supporting their care efforts to get back into HIV care or follow through with care plans from their medical care teams. It works and has been effective. When we started this project our viral suppression rates were at 86.4% and now they’re 88.31%. That percentage may not tell enough of the story. 152 individuals in our community today have controlled viral loads that weren’t controlled a year ago.
