This Webinar will focus on two innovative HIV projects by two of our FIMC partners, The Poverello Center and Partners in Nutrition Indiana. Please find a full description of each project below.
The Poverello Center: Special Project of National Significance
The Special Project of National Significance, “Using Evidence-Informed Interventions to Improve Health Outcomes among People Living with HIV,” was awarded to The Poverello Center (TPC), 1 of 26 sites nationwide, through a Cooperative Agreement with AIDS United, a subcontractor of the Fenway Institute (Grant No. U69HA310670100). As a result, TPC implemented “SBIRT at the Food Pantry.” SBIRT stands for Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral and Treatment, and is a common intervention in integrated medical/behavioral health settings like community health centers. The novel approach is implementing the screenings in a considered low-risk disclosure setting like the food pantry. The results so far are surprising when compared to what the same clients are telling their medical providers in the clinic setting. This SPNS Project looks specifically at the implementation science involved in piloting these evidence-informed interventions in a variety of settings.
Partners in Nutrition Indiana: Ryan Meals for Life
Ryan’s Meals for Life, a program of Partners in Nutrition Indiana (PINI), has provided Medical Nutrition Therapy services to over 1,000 Hoosiers across the state of Indiana. The program is now in its third year of funding through a Ryan White Part B grant from the Indiana State Department of Health. It is the first statewide program of its kind in the nation and PINI’s first statewide program. Clients are Ryan White-enrolled and are referred by every one of the 17 HIV/AIDS Service Organizations in Indiana. Services include medically tailored meals and medically tailored food pantry boxes delivered to the client’s door by a volunteer driver or shipped through UPS.
